Police make arrest in Palmerston North firearm incident

Acting Detective Sergeant Grant Christian says a man has been arrested in relation to anti-social road user activity near Feilding which left a man in critical condition. 

On Saturday 22 August around 12.20am Police responded to Halcombe Road, north of Feilding, after a man was struck by a vehicle. 

The victim was found with extensive injuries. He remains in serious condition at Wellington Hospital and is supported by his family members. 

DS. Christian says, last night, Police arrested a 20-year-old man in relation to the incident. He is due to appear in Palmerston North District Court on 1 September, charged with driving with sustained loss of traction causing injury. 

“As part of our ongoing enquiries, Police are seeking information regarding the whereabouts of a green 2000 Ford Falcon AU Futura sedan vehicle, which is believed to be involved in the incident. 

“Police would like to thank all those who have come forward with information so far, and we continue to ask that any witnesses of the incident, any information about the green Falcon, and anyone with relevant video footage, to please get in touch.”
