Maybe the next Tiger Woods, Lydia Ko, or Grant Fox will get their start right here in Kāpiti at the superb new facility officially opened at Mazengarb Park.

The Kāpiti Rotary Club and the Combined Lions Clubs of Kāpiti have jointly created Mini Golf Kāpiti, New Zealand’s first internationally designed 18-hole mini golf course, right here in Kāpiti, a unique and fun family experience.

At the opening ceremony Tony Lester paid tribute to all of those who have given so much of their time and energy into a project that will continue to benefit the community for many years to come.

In particular Mr Lester acknowledged the crucial work of Alistair Beissel and Mel Bird in their enormous work in organisation, construction and fundraising.

Mr Lester also acknowledged the huge sponsorship drive that has seen this million dollar facility open.

In just a few short months, an extraordinary community effort has transformed a bold idea into a world-class course. With design inspiration from the famous Himalayas putting course in St Andrews, and specialist guidance from international mini-golf expert Scott McPherson, the project came together at remarkable speed.

The Golf for Good team say this achievement was only possible thanks to the incredible support of sponsors, local tradies, and Kāpiti Coast District Council, along with thousands of volunteer hours contributed by people across the district – truly a community-built course.

“Built by the community, for the community, Golf for Good is now open and is your go to spot for your next Kāpiti Coast experience. With a putting-green style layout, a convenient refreshment kiosk, plenty of parking, and our valued partnership with The Bond Store, it’s the perfect place to relax and experience the best of the Kāpiti Coast. Every dollar of profit supports local initiatives, making your visit part of something bigger.”

Kāpiti Mayor Janet Holborow did the honours of cutting the ribbon along with MP Tim Costley in a ceremony that packed the arena.

Mayor Holborow thanked the Combined Lions Clubs of Kāpiti and the Kāpiti Rotary Club for providing not only a fantastic recreational facility but also for introducing a concept that will keep giving to the community well into the future.
