Current Raumati Community Board member Tarn Sheerin, well known for supporting the arts, says she is especially eager to lead conversations about the old Raumati Pools and create vibrant opportunities for youth.
Ms Sheerin has been a member of the inaugural Raumati Community Board, created in 2022, and already making its mark on local governance.
At the 2024 Local Government NZ Community Board Awards, Raumati won the ‘Engaging with Communities’ award for its long-term vision and identity project. Judges praised it as a ‘shining example of bringing community voice to the table – by the people, for the people.
Ms Sheerin says she is a proud Raumati Beach local with whānau here since 1954.
“I’m a mother of two and live here with my daughter. For the past three years, I’ve served on the Raumati Community Board, bringing my background in the arts, construction, first aid, and child protection to practical community mahi.
“I’m passionate about being a strong, hands-on voice for our neighbourhood, working sleeves-up alongside locals to make real improvements. Together, we can build a connected Raumati that honours its past and fuels its future,” says Ms Sheerin.
