Candidate Statement – Liz Koh

Candidate – District-wide

Liz Koh – District-wide Candidate

“In my time as a Districtwide Councillor I have stopped the Te Uruhi (Kāpiti Gateway) project, initiated the development of Council’s Top 10 strategic priorities, instigated the development of a comprehensive system for assessing the Chief Executive’s performance, instigated a line by line review of Council spending for the 2025/26 Annual Plan and initiated the development of a simple breakdown of costs by activity so that ratepayers can see what their money is spent on.

“It is clear that strong leadership will be needed going forward to tackle rates affordability while not undermining the future sustainability of core services. This means an increased focus on financial accountability and transparency, improved communication of financial information, improved engagement with the community on key issues, and greater input from the community on spending priorities.

“We also need to explore options for alternative funding of activities which are important but not core business.”
