Kapiti Writers’ Group – sage advice

Kapiti Writers' Group welcomes new members

‘Novels are a long, hot bath, short stories are a short, cold shower!’

Sage advice given from author and poet Trish Veltman at a workshop she and fellow Kāpiti author, Anne Ingram, recently gave to members of the Kāpiti Writers’ Group.

Are you a writer? Or thinking of writing? As well as attending workshops throughout the year, Kāpiti writers meet each month to learn about and encourage each other in the craft of writing. The group has experienced and beginner writers, who write in many forms, for many purposes.

The group has a long history on the coast, beginning with a focus on writing for children and growing to encompass writers of any genre. Founding members had two main objectives when they formed the group over a decade ago: ‘(a) to celebrate our place and (b) to expand our group into a community of writers.’

These objectives have been achieved, and the group is a thriving and friendly group of people keen to learn more about their craft. New members and enquiries are welcome.
