Dr Aroha Spinks is the final speaker in the superb Nga Manu Winter Speaker 2025 series.

Dr Spinks is an independent consultant living in Ōtaki striving for a sustainable future that builds resilience within ecosystems and communities. As an environmental scientist with experience in fisheries, restoration ecology, kaupapa Māori approaches, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi indigenous research, her doctoral research supported the whānau and hapū of Ōtaki in their restoration project for Lake Waiorongomai. Recent work included contracting to Ngā Hapū o Ōtaki supporting hapū aspirations for freshwater, biodiversity, climate change, policy and planning.
