Paekakariki surges to lead Kapiti Vote charge

Paekākāriki voters are making a race of it with early leaders Ōtaki and Waikanae in the election race.

Paekākāriki residents increased their voting returns to 34.3% from their eligible voting population.

Ōtaki and Waikanae are neck and neck for second place, with Paraparaumu and Raumati hot on their heels. Kāpiti Coast Māori Ward voters, you’re not far behind with 21.03%.

So far, just under 30% of eligible voters have returned their papers. That means 30,631 of you have NOT VOTED YET!

FROM 8 OCTOBER Ōtaki and Waikanae are the major contributors to the recent surge in the local election voting numbers.

As at midday today (8 August) Ōtaki led the way with 31.9% return, closely followed by Waikanae at 31.8%. Paekākāriki and Raumati will need to get their skates on to catch up.

Postal voting is now high risk if you want to be certain you vote will be in on time so there are plenty of places to deliver your voting papers (see below for Link).

Voting numbers with three days to go in the Kāpiti election

At 12 noon on Saturday 11 October the voting ends and the counting starts so make sure you have your say in time to be in the count.

Drop your voting papers into any of our libraries or services centres in Paekākāriki, Paraparaumu, Waikanae, or Ōtaki during their opening hours.

Council’s Rimu Road Paraparaumu and Ōtaki service centres have extra support right up until 12 noon on Saturday to help you with special votes, enrolling, and any other election questions. The Rimu Road service centre will also be open until 7.30pm Thursday and Friday.

Vote drop-offs and special votes can also be done with mobile voting booth, check the website for when it will be near you.
