Hon. Mark Mitchell called into Kāpiti Coast Council’s Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) in Paraparaumu this week to learn more about KCDC’s all-in approach to support the community during emergency events.
Every permanent and fixed-term staff member plays a role in the Council emergency response workforce. This includes completing foundation training or, for some, dedicated function role training in Emergency Management or for Emergency Assistance Centres (EAC).
This approach means Kāpiti Council now have 70 dedicated staff to run the EOC and EACs, and also have another 120-surge staff ready to step in should our district face a significant event such as an earthquake, tsunami or flood.
