Candidate Statement – Michael Moore

Candidate – Waikanae Community Board

Michael Moore, candidate Waikanae Community Board

“Since I’ve been elected, as a Community Board chair, I have worked tirelessly to advocate for residents of Waikanae, Reikorangi and Te Horo. I am committed to good governance, ensuring our rates deliver real value through careful, prudent and transparent spending. I’m a proactive, positive, informed, active and skilled communicator. I turn up, listen, and act on residents’ concerns.

“I supported the upgrade of Te Horo Beach’s changing rooms, outdoor shower, picnic area, and environmental murals, recognised by Local Government NZ. I backed the Waikanae Library rebuild, Te Ara Whetū, our new community hub, set to open in 2026. I advocated funding for residents, community associations and the historic community hall.

“I will push for better public transport links, protection of our coastal environment, predator control, and waterway management to mitigate road flooding. I’ve led public consultation on curbing anti-social road behaviour and community safety cameras.”
