Police are an increasing presence around Fielding following the arrest of two teenagers by local police after a spree of offending related to car thefts and tampering.

Sergeant Ryan Harrison says the offending is believed to have taken place between Sunday, August 3 and Tuesday, August 5, mainly in retail car parks located on Manchester and Eyre streets.

Sgt Harrison says while the duo were already facing multiple charges, there was a possibility more vehicles could had been targeted which had yet to have been reported.

“We strongly urge anyone in Feilding who has had their vehicle broken into, to report it to us.”

As a result of the arrests, a 19-year-old man faces four, vehicle-related offences along with a possession of cannabis charge.

Another young person has been referred to Youth Aid.

Sgt Harrison encouraged the public to take steps to ensure their vehicles were secure, and to keep any items of value stowed away out of sight.

“Radar detectors and insecure vehicles continue to be actively targeted by opportunists,” he says.

Sgt Harrison says police would continue to “be visible in our communities across the wider Feilding area, both in marked vehicle patrols, and out on the beat.”
