Candidate Statement – Marco Zeeman

Candidate – Paraparaumu Community Board

“Kāpiti is in my blood. I grew up in Pukerua Bay and returned in 2012 to settle above Paraparaumu.

Marco Zeeman, candidate Paraparaumu Community Board

“I bring decades of experience delivering public-good projects across conservation, tourism and the creative sector — from co-founding the Tareitanga International Sculpture Symposium, initiating the HMNZS Wellington divewreck, helping relocate the Island Bay Marine Education Centre, to overseeing the build of Zealandia’s Visitor Centre.

“In 2005, I received the Wellingtonian of the Year Supreme Award.

“Today, I lead Whale Song — a privately funded eco-cultural sculpture and wetland restoration beside Wharemauku Stream. It will create jobs, support local businesses, boost tourism and protect our environment — all without cost to ratepayers.

“I’m standing to help Paraparaumu grow fairly, sustainably and with resilience. I’ll support smart investment, affordable living, local enterprise and better access to services.

“Let’s work together to build a future Kāpiti can be proud of.”

All candidates are offered the opportunity to submit a profile and photo for the position they are standing for.
