Beryl Barr stands for Paraparaumu
22 August
Paraparaumu Ward candidate Beryl Barr

Campaign Statement

Would you like a fresh, future-looking person representing you on Council matters? Having lived and worked in Kapiti for 12 years, I am offering my services as a strong community advocate who will consult many local people, putting aside personal views, to achieve the best for Kapiti. As a widow I have coped with adversity and developed a positive, balanced approach to decision making.
Through my work experience I have learned to work alongside people, talking through issues and effectively meeting their needs. Prior to coming to Paraparaumu I successfully owned and operated a café/lunch bar. Since shifting to Kapiti I have worked for HealthcareNZ as a community support worker, specialising in high needs support. I am currently an elected rep on Healthcare's Health and Safety Committee and a PSA delegate and negotiator.
My community involvement includes co-ordinating our local Neighbourhood Support Group and working with the Labour Party.

Ms Barr is also contesting a seat on the Paraparaumu/Raumati Community Board.
