Former Kapiti Mayor Iride McCloy running for Council
April 2016
Former Kapiti Mayor Iride McCloy

Iride McCloy, former Mayor of Kapiti, is standing for the position of an elected member for council in this year's local body election.

"I have decided to make myself available for election because of the debt which is skyrocketing, a lack of transparency and the many legal costs plaguing this council. I am also determined to advocate for improved health services which I believe are being eroded on the Kapiti Coast."

Mrs McCloy says, if elected she will work for a community friendly council with an open door policy, transparency and accountability.
"One of the biggest dissatisfactions people in Kapiti have is around the water meters due to the council's million dollar plus deficit. I would work with like-minded elected members to disestablish them.
Mrs McCloy is a JP, a member of the Institute of Directors and a member of the NZ Institute of Travel and Tourism, the Kapiti Chamber of Commerce and other business/community groups.
"I am or have been involved in many organisations in Kapiti and have more than 35 years in senior management and owner operator roles. I am committed and dedicated to any work I undertake. I will work hard to bring more successful businesses to the Coast, and work collaboratively with all parties to ensure there is more councillor involvement in community issues, events and organisations."
